Star is the founder of the Called to Care Coalition (C3) and has served as the Greater Houston Regional Manager for CarePortal since 2021. She partners churches, businesses, child serving agencies, and community organizations to coordinate timely care for children and families in crisis through CarePortal. Star is committed to building sustainable partnerships that restore dignity, promote stability, and create meaningful connections for vulnerable families.
Raised by a single mother without public assistance or child support from an absent father, but a present Heavenly Father (Psalm 68:5), she overcame and witnessed firsthand how the local Church can provide transformative community, and a family for vulnerable children—experiences that forged her commitment to serving children and families.
What Star loves most about her work with CarePortal is collaborating with local churches, businesses, and child-serving agencies; together they form a powerful, transformative synergy for kids and families. She believes that “the church is the most beautiful when she is loving the most vulnerable."
In her free time, Star loves to hike and discover new trails, as well as take walks with her rescue dog, William. She is an ordained minister and former Miss Black Oklahoma, as well as a Miss Oklahoma USA, where she was a top ten finisher in the Miss USA competition. Star earned her degree in Organizational and Interpersonal Communication from Oral Roberts University.
